Updates from Yalew
Updated: 2 days ago
We received an update from Yalew yesterday. The work at Waraza and Dalbaza that commenced in March, has been completed. The guys from the water office (including the head of that department) are going up to the sites soon to inspect the work and send us photos. If everyone is happy, we will then pay the balance on the labour.
The huge works at Qanqo have commenced with the community having to improve the access route for the trucks bringing sand, cement and supplies. The trucks are 4WD but the road is really dreadful and kind of non-existent. The people have now sorted the road (all by hand of course) and the trucks have started dropping off their loads.
Attached are diagrams of all the projects - existing work if any, is in black and our works are in red. An RDB is a type of reservoir (about 1 cubic metre). A “water point” usually consists of somewhere to fill a jerry can, a washing table for washing clothes, and a cattle trough that catches overflow.
